What we are asked most often

Theorema is organized by Oshara Inc, a Montreal company that designs and operates online school-contest platforms. The contests are produced by our teaching team and reviewed by a committee of mathematics teachers, whose names appear at the bottom of the page.

Grades 3 to 9, which is up to Secondary 3 in Quebec. One contest per grade. A student may be registered for a higher grade than their own at the teacher’s request, never for a lower one.

Yes. Each contest exists in French and in English, with the same questions. The student chooses their language when they start.

They are original, written for Theorema, and they test problem solving: logic, numbers, geometry, measurement, proportions, reading data. A full contest for each grade is public, so you can judge for yourself.

No, for any contest. The questions are written so that a calculator is useless. Paper and pencil are allowed.

Yes. At registration, you choose for each of your groups a day between Monday, April 12 and Friday, April 16, 2027, which you can change until Friday, April 9. On the day, you start the contest when your group is ready, any time between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Each student’s timer starts when they click “Start”, so a student who arrives late still has the full time.

Every school writes the same questions. One week lets you choose the day while protecting the fairness of the rankings, and it lets us publish everyone’s results on April 30. Questions and solutions stay confidential until that date.

The student sees a “Sent” screen with the number of answers saved, and you see each submission time live. An absent student is marked absent. They count neither as zero nor in the school average.

Yes, as long as contest week is not over: you open the contest for them on another day, until Friday, April 16. After that there is no make-up, unless the incident comes from the platform. In that case your school chooses, for the students affected, between the April 19 make-up and a refund. This rule is written here before you register, so there is no surprise.

Both. Each tied student receives the same award. You can also order an extra certificate (free, PDF) or an extra medal from your dashboard.

If a student’s connection drops, the contest resumes where they left off, with the time remaining. If the whole school is affected, you write the contest again on another day the same week. If the incident comes from the platform, the question is voided for everyone and the April 19 make-up date is added. A direct phone line is open all week.

It is the platform on which the contest is held: registration, student access, practice, the contest and results. Theorema is the contest. Mindlympics is where you prepare for it and where you write it. Students also find logic and reasoning challenges they can do freely.

No. Each student receives an identifier and a code created by the school. Only the teacher in charge needs an email address.

Choose “On invoice” at registration. You receive an invoice payable by cheque or transfer within 30 days. Access is created immediately, without waiting for payment. If you pay personally and will be reimbursed later, check the box provided: the receipt is in your name, the invoice is in the school’s name.

Yes, until March 19, from the dashboard. The invoice is adjusted automatically. After that date, you can still replace one student with another until the day before the contest, and correct the spelling of a name until results are published.

The page “I can’t sign in” covers the three cases: find the email on file for your school, transfer the account to a new person in charge (confirmed by email or by phone the same day), or receive the email again. A password is never sent by email.

One organization, one campus per site. Each campus has its groups, its honour roll and its invoice, and an administrator sees the whole. The same teacher can be attached to several campuses.

Results on April 30, certificates to print on May 7, medals and plaques mailed by May 21 at the latest with a tracking number. You confirm the delivery address during results week. You have the rest of the school year to present them.

A full refund until March 19. After that date, a full refund if Theorema cannot hold the contest, including on the make-up date. The full text is published when registration opens.

In Canada. Theorema collects the first name, last name, grade and school, nothing more. Parent consent to publish a name on the honour roll is collected at registration. See our privacy policy.

No. Access stays open until the end of the school year. What you do with it afterward is up to you, and registration for next year’s contest does not depend on it.
